Amit Kulkarni decided to contest the Satara Municipal Council elections in 2001 through the Satara Vikas Aghadi led by Shrimant Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale. All his colleagues took the initiative in what he did..!
In the year 2001, historic decisions in municipal elections were made. Out of the total of 39 candidates, including the candidate for the Post of Mayor, 36 candidates were elected from Satara Vikas Aghadi.
Amit Kulkarni was elected from ward number ten in Satara Municipal Council through Satara Vikas Aghadi with the blessings of Rajmata Shrimant Chhatrapati Kalpanaraje Bhosale and Shrimant Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosle. Along with His colleague Late. Sanjay Joshi and Late. Urmila Narkar and at that time Mayor Mrs. Ranjana Rawat, and Amit Kulkarni were able to do many development works.
Amit Kulkarni got a great opportunity to work under former Revenue Minister Shrimant Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale.
During the tenure of Amit Kulkarni’s municipality from 2001 to 2006, he got the opportunity to work in various positions due to the Shrimant Chhatrapati Udayan Maharaj and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In 2006, due to many political transitions, B.J.P. Senior guide of Satara Dr. Gajabhau Kulkarni ordered Amit Kulkarni to lead the entire municipal election without contesting the election, so he did not contest the municipal election 2006. In 2006, he managed to field five official Bharatiya Janata Party candidates across the city through a desperate effort in a politically extreme situation. Unfortunately, none of them could get elected. In 2011, Amit Kulkarni was defeated in the municipal elections when he contested as the official candidate of Alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shrimant Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosle, and Shrimant Chhatrapati Shivendraraje Bhosle.
